With deep sorrow and heartfelt reverence, we announce the passing of one of our cherished ministry partners, Charles King Sewell of Marietta, Georgia, who departed this life peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the age of 93. Surrounded by the love of his family in his final moments, Charles leaves behind a remarkable legacy of faith, leadership, generosity, and service.
Born in Austell, Georgia, to Henry Lawton Sewell and Carrie Pearl King Sewell, Charles was raised alongside his brothers, Joe and Henry. From an early age, he demonstrated determination and vision. A graduate of Austell High School in 1949, he excelled in athletics before pursuing higher education. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, cum laude, from Piedmont College in 1954, complemented by studies in Science and Physical Education.
Although his early dream was to teach and coach, Charles’ path led him into business, where his entrepreneurial spirit flourished. He played a pivotal role in building and transforming the family enterprise and went on to found and grow multiple successful ventures, including CKS Packaging. His innovation, particularly in advancing plastic packaging, left a lasting impact on the industry and earned him numerous honors, including lifetime achievement recognition and international distinction.
Yet beyond his professional accomplishments, Charles was a man of deep and abiding faith. He loved God, his family, and his calling to serve others. Together with his beloved wife Catherine, he supported numerous ministries and quietly extended generosity to those in need, often without recognition. His life was a testament to humility, compassion, and steadfast devotion.
Charles was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, leaving behind a large and loving family who will carry forward his values and example. He found joy in coaching his children, spending time outdoors, and sharing life’s blessings with those around him.
