It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Engineer Colton Tibbetts of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. Colton, who served our community with dedication and courage, was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose loss is deeply felt by all who knew him.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Brian Tibbetts, Colton joined JFRD three years ago, embracing the call to serve with the same passion and commitment that defined his family’s legacy. His dedication and exemplary work ethic were recognized in November when he was promoted to Engineer at just 22 years old, a remarkable achievement that reflected both his skill and his promise as a firefighter.
Colton’s life and career were a testament to selflessness, courage, and devotion to the community. He approached each day with integrity, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to protect and serve others. His warmth, camaraderie, and professionalism left a lasting impact on his fellow firefighters, colleagues, and the countless residents whose lives he touched.
As we mourn this tragic loss, we extend our deepest condolences to the Tibbetts family, his fellow crew members, and all the members of JFRD. May they find strength and comfort in the outpouring of support from the community and the enduring memory of Colton’s service, character, and spirit.
Colton Tibbetts will be remembered as a courageous firefighter, a devoted family member, and a true friend. His legacy of dedication, kindness, and bravery will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. Our thoughts and prayers remain with his loved ones during this difficult time.
