Grimblethorpe Louth Accident on Section of the A157: Victims Identified Following Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision

It is with deep sadness that we report the tragic loss of two lives following a multi-vehicle collision near Grimblethorpe, close to Louth, on Sunday, March 15. The incident occurred along a stretch of the A157 just after Gayton le Wold, involving multiple vehicles and resulting in devastating consequences for the families affected.

A 79-year-old woman from Mablethorpe and a four-year-old boy from Birmingham sadly lost their lives as a result of the collision. The woman, who was driving one of the vehicles involved, was taken to hospital but passed away the following day. The young boy, who was a passenger in another vehicle, tragically succumbed to his injuries on Monday, March 23. Their loss has brought profound sorrow to their loved ones and the wider community.

The collision involved several vehicles, including a blue Peugeot 108, a grey MG 1300, a white BMW X3, and a black Volvo XC60, along with a fifth vehicle that sustained collateral damage. Emergency services responded swiftly, and investigators have since carried out extensive forensic inquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Detective Sergeant Melissa Ablitt, the lead investigator, has appealed to the public for assistance in understanding the sequence of events leading up to the collision. Authorities are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have relevant CCTV, dash cam, or other recorded footage of the vehicles prior to the crash.

As the investigation continues, heartfelt condolences are extended to the families and friends of the victims during this incredibly difficult time.
