It is with profound sadness that the President, Management Committee, and members of Carrick Rugby Football Club share the news of the passing of Richard Price. Richard, a Past President and Trustee, was far more than a leader; he was a mentor, a friend, and a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A founding member of the Carrick Sevens in 1973, Richard’s contribution to the club spanned decades. Beyond his leadership roles, he was deeply committed to nurturing young talent as a youth coach, leaving a lasting and meaningful impact on countless young lives. His dedication, wisdom, and encouragement shaped the club’s culture and inspired generations of players and supporters alike.
Richard was the embodiment of a true gentleman. Warm, approachable, and always ready with a kind word, he made a lasting impression on everyone he met. Whether enjoying a Guinness or a glass of red wine, his twinkle in the eye and signature cheeky grin could light up any room. His presence, humour, and humanity enriched the lives of all who had the honour to share his company.
His loss is deeply felt across the club and wider community. Richard’s legacy as a leader, mentor, and friend will remain, firmly woven into the fabric of Carrick RFC. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to his sons, Michael and Richard, to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his warmth, generosity, and spirit.
